Summertime is the best time to get out and explore your world. If your disability requires that you use a wheelchair, don’t let that stop you! There are plenty of things to do that offer accessibility, no matter what mobility problems you face. We’ve compiled a list of activity ideas for you and your family to try out before school starts again! Put together a travel bag with some snacks, and let the adventure begin!

Arizona

In Arizona, you have several nice places to go if you want to spend quality time outside. Dead Horse Ranch State Park is one of the nicest areas for camping, trails, picnicking and fishing. It is located next to the Verde River and is great for every member of the family.

If you like airplanes, visit the Pima Air & Space Museum. There are plenty of activities for kids, and adults can find plenty of interesting things to see too! If you give a couple of days notice, you can see the Boneyard at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base as well.

Oregon

In Oregon, one of the most popular activities is horseback riding. Healing Reins offers horseback riding to individuals of all ages and various abilities. They have the equipment to allow everyone an opportunity to experience the joy of riding horses.

Near the Seaside Promenade, you can rent a sand wheelchair and visit the Haystack Rock Awareness Program. There are many different learning activities for children of all ages to enjoy.

Utah

In Utah, the Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation Adaptive Program offers a variety of activities for people in wheelchairs, regardless of their age or experience. Programs are held throughout the year and offer a variety of social activities for everyone to enjoy.

Courage Reins Therapeutic Riding Center located in Highland offers riding as well as many other equine-related activities. Sessions are designed to promote social, physical, emotional and cognitive well-being while offering unique challenges and experiences.
