International Children’s Day: Creating Opportunities for All Kids at RISE
International Children’s Day offers a global opportunity to recognize the rights, dignity, and well-being of children everywhere. At RISE Services, Inc., we believe every child deserves the chance to grow, connect, and reach their fullest potential, regardless of ability, background, or circumstance. As families and communities observe International Children’s Day, we’re reminded of the unique strengths and perspectives all children, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), bring to our world.
Celebrating International Children’s Day for Kids with IDD
International Children’s Day, observed on June 1 in many parts of the world, originated in 1925 to promote children’s health, safety, education, and happiness. Organizations across the globe use this day to spotlight issues faced by children, from access to education to protection from harm. For children with IDD, these needs are particularly significant, since they may experience barriers to participation or inclusion in daily life.
Supporting Children with IDD and Their Families
At RISE Services, Inc., our vision goes beyond simply providing assistance. We support children and their families in living meaningful, connected lives. Children and youth with IDD can participate in after school programs and summer programs designed to nurture growth, learning, and friendship. Our staff, including dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and other specialists, help create spaces where every child can discover interests, build confidence, and experience community.
These supports foster a sense of belonging, encourage social and emotional development, and help children gain the life skills needed for independence. We work with children and families as equals, listening to their needs and supporting their goals at every step.
Supporting Foster Children and Families
In addition to programs for children with IDD, RISE Services, Inc. also supports foster children and the families who care for them. We recognize that children in foster care can face unique challenges and strive to provide resources, encouragement, and opportunities that help them flourish.
Creating Opportunity and Community
At RISE Services, Inc., the heart of our work is partnership with children, families, and communities. Our hope is that through our services, children with IDD will have safe, enriching spaces where they can explore, learn, and grow.
