Become an Intern at RISE

Are you looking for a way to improve your skills, connect with people, and make a real impact on your community? Then, we have some exciting news for you —We’re looking for interns! Becoming part of the team at RISE may be the adventure you’ve been looking for.

Why Be An Intern?

Becoming an intern at RISE means you will align with our ongoing mission to provide support services for individuals who are at-risk or with disabilities. You’ll become part of an over 30-year old organization that has created opportunities for countless people who often experience barriers to success. The satisfaction you’ll receive as an intern helping others is unquantifiable. The life experience you gain in a professional environment will give you skills you can use wherever you go. If you’re a college student, the work you do for us doing an internship can also get you academic credit. Just give us the necessary paperwork to fill out so that we can validate your experience for your semester of service.

What It Looks Like

Throughout your internship, you’ll be guided by a mentor. You’ll also work one-on-one with members to build real-world experience in a professional sphere. A RISE internship is structured after a typical 16-week semester, but it can vary according to your schedule and life situation. The first two weeks are the training period. Then, you shadow a Direct Support Professional for 4 weeks, then follow a Coordinator or similar position for the next 4 weeks. Your last 4 weeks will be spent acting in another position that interests you. We also offer flexible schedules and the possibility of offering permanent positions after the internship period. Compensation will be an hourly pay rate based on your location and experience.

Qualifications

You don’t need to have years of experience to be the right candidate. We simply need someone who can:
  • Speak English
  • Pass a background check.
  • Obtain a level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
  • Be an honest and hard worker.
Some other desirable criteria is a candidate who is 21+, has a valid driver’s license, and has auto insurance that meets our qualifications. Being bilingual would also be a huge plus. Beyond that, we’ll provide all the necessary training to make sure you’re successful in our internship program. For example, we’ll provide any CPR or first aid training and teach you how to administer medications.
