3 Key Questions to Ask When Considering Residential Care
Choosing residential services for a loved one can feel overwhelming, but RISE Services, Inc. is here to help. There are many unknowns and concerns, such as which agency to contact, your family member’s specific needs, and the type of residential care they require. Allow the residential specialists at RISE Services, Inc., who understand the overwhelming and weighty nature of these difficult decisions, to guide you through three questions regarding residential home services.
1. Who Will Take Care of My Loved One?
Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide all-encompassing care for individuals with developmental disabilities in all of our residential home services. They assist with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, transportation, and medication management. Depending on specific needs, they may work with occupational therapists, behavior specialists, and other RISE professionals.
DSPs are required to complete specific training modules before working with residents. We offer constant professional education opportunities as well. DSP candidates must have open minds, attentive listening skills, high moral character, no preconceived beliefs, and patience and compassion with all residents.
2. Can I Have Input in My Family Member’s Care?
Yes! We encourage parents or guardians to engage in the residential process with permission from their family members. Clear communication regarding your loved one’s medical, physical, and cognitive needs is essential to choosing the residential home that can provide appropriate care. You may also have opportunities to visit their living environments, observe all common spaces, and interact with residential staff.
3. What Type of Residential Services Do You Offer?
RISE Services, Inc. residents receive personalized care plans based on medical, physical, behavioral, and other unique needs. Our DSPs offer assistance and services, such as medical support, social activity opportunities, employment assistance, community activity opportunities, and more, as required by their care plans. We offer three types of residential services throughout the states we serve:
In-home care allows adults with IDDs to live independently and as long as they wish in their preferred home setting.
