July is a month to honor and recollect all of the sacrifices that have led to our nation’s independence. As a community we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the Fourth with parades, picnics, fireworks and the American flag.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to another landmark date in July where another form of independence was born. On July 26, 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed into law the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The intention of this law was to secure civil rights and eliminate discrimination for those with disabilities.
